简介：阿尔伯特·皮埃尔珀恩特（蒂莫西·斯波TimothySpall饰），英国最著名的绞刑师。他冷静、不苟言笑，又极其讲究自身的职业道德，堪称“世界上最有效率和最人性的第一绞刑师”。这个职业需要身份的秘密、绝对的冷静以及精准的计算。职业性的果断和迅速，为他创造了7秒半完成行刑的纪录。然而这个本该是秘密的身份，却因为执行对纳粹的死刑，使得皮埃尔珀恩特成了公众人物。皮埃尔珀恩特从不把他的职业与生活混淆，也很少考虑这个行当的残酷性。直到1950年的一天，他亲手为他的朋友詹姆斯·考比特（埃迪·马森EddieMarsan饰）“送行”，导致精神几乎崩溃。这成为了皮埃尔珀恩特职业生涯的转折点，他于1955年写信辞去了绞刑师的工作，结束了这段处死608名死囚长达22年的生死行当。
